Phthalic Anhydride

Phthalic anhydride (PA) is used for the production of phthalate esters (mainly dioctyl phthalate, DOP), which are used as plasticisers in PVC, for unsaturated polyes-ter resins (UPR), which are required for fibreglass-reinforced plastics, and for alkyd resins (solvent paints). Other applications include dyes, detergents, fire retardants, saccharin and polyester resin cross-linking agents.

Phthalic anhydride is typically made by orthoxylene partial oxydation in fcathalithyc reactors. Eurotecnica has connections with many licensors in the PA field and can provide the most suited plant, depending on plant size and project requirements.
